Paulist Fathers Vocations joins annual World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life

World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life is celebrated on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2.

“It is the will of God that each one of us should strive to find his vocation and should follow it with fidelity. To learn our vocation, and by what road God has destined us to walk, is one of the most important tasks of our life.”

Servant of God Fr. Isaac Thomas Hecker (1819 — 1888), founder of the Paulist Fathers

The Paulist Fathers Office of Vocations invites everyone to join us in prayer this week as we prepare to join the Church in the annual celebration of World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life on February 2, 2024 (celebrated in parishes on February 3-4).

Follow @PaulistVocation on Facebook, Instagram and X for daily prayers and intercessions, featuring Paulist priests and seminarians, as we ask the Lord to bless:

  • those consecrated to God by the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience

  • those who actively support the promotion of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life

  • those discerning the Lord’s calling to consecrated life

In addition, Paulist Vocations will be among 30 religious orders present at the Celebration of Consecrated Life at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, February 1.

Fr. Ed Nowak, C.S.P., Paulist Fathers Director of Vocations, will be there to answer any questions and talk about the Paulist mission, vision and charism — and to hand out some great Paulist giveaways.

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2. On this Feast Day, also known as Candlemas Day, candles are blessed symbolizing Christ, who is the light of the world. Those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all people.

The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole Church.

If you are interested in discerning a Paulist Fathers vocation or know someone who would make a great Paulist priest, please contact Fr. Ed at vocations@paulist.org or at (917) 763-7899.
